General Summary


The Shipping & Receiving Clerk unloads trucks, stages orders/transfers in the appropriate locations and prepares incoming shipments for receiving into inventoryConducts visual inspection of incoming parts, verifies part counts, and supplies and delivers applicable paperwork to appropriate departments.  Responsible for housekeeping and organization of warehouses and offices.  

 Responsibilities

    • Inspect product to ensure accuracy and quality control.
    • Load and unload trucks.
    • Reconcile final documentation for inbound and outbound shipments
    • Verify and document any damage that the incoming shipments/parts may have,
    • Notify appropriate personnel of damage/issues with products. 
    • Ensure that packaging out-going parts are properly protected from any possible damage during shipment and follow all DOT and packaging guidelines. 
    • Operates lift trucks, forklifts, or hand trucks to convey, move or hoist materials to proper department or location.  
    • Housekeeping and warehouse organization
    • Monitor grids to ensure all sales orders are processed according to Service Standards
    • Ensure product neat, clean, presentable before shipping or customer pickup 
    • Follow 5S Lean Workplace Cleaning System in all areas 

     

 Job Specifications

  • Possesses High School diploma or GED 
  • Has 1 year +in a Shipping/Receiving position in a distribution environment.
  • Demonstrate a capacity for problem solving/analytical and organizational skills.
  • Requires strong time management and initiative to achieve customer expectations
  • Has a natural capacity for technical matters, such as estimating loads, supplies, and tracking information in the system.
  • Ability to operate various technology and software as needed for shipping orders 

Physical Demands 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear and smell. It demands reaching with the hands and arms, as well as use of the fingers to manipulate, handle or feel. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, sitting, or crawling all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration; constant exposure to moving mechanical parts and work in high, risky conditions is common. There is exposure to outdoor weather conditions, such as extreme cold and extreme heatThe noise level in the work environment can be loud.
